ミ ミ：宅建試験が終了したので、慰労会もかねて、会社のみんなは食事会に行ったそうね。
チョコ：いいなー、人間は。オイシイものが、いろいろ食べれて…。今日、みんなが頼んだコース料理の名前は、「さわら」だったんだよ。
ミ ミ：「さわら」って、春の魚よね？
チョコ：それは「鰆」だよね？今日の料理名は、漢字で「椹」と書くんだ。
ミ ミ：「椹」（さわら）って？
チョコ：木曽、飛騨地方に多く産出される木で、高さは30ｍまで達するんだ。見た目、ヒノキと間違いやすいけど、「サワラニン」という成分を含んでおり、人間のストレスを解消し、リラックスさせる効果があるんだって。
ミ ミ：ヒノキと間違えやすいということは、ヒノキの代わりに使われるんじゃない？
チョコ：その通り！ヒノキの代用品として、昔から浴槽や風呂桶（ふろおけ）、手桶（ておけ）などに使われ、プラスチック製品が登場するまで、生活に欠かせない木だったらしい。軽くて柔らかく、しかも、水や湿気に強いからね。また、適度に水分をとってくれる性質があるので、ご飯のおひつにも最適なんだ。
ミ ミ：椹（さわら）のおひつがあれば、ご飯がより一層おいしくいただけるわけね。でも、うちのママは、椹（さわら）のおひつで食べたわけじゃないのに、今日もしっかりご飯をお代わりしたそうよ。
チョコ：ママは、秋にかぎらず、一年中食欲旺盛（おうせい）だからね。いずれにしても、ダイエットは当分無理かもね。
ミ ミ：うん！
